Alpana Tastes Her ‘Desert Island’ White in the Azur Sauvignon Blanc [Video]

Master Sommelier Alpana Singh tastes the 2016 Azur Sauvignon Blanc and shares her thoughts in this video. Transcription and tasting notes below.

Hi, I’m Master Sommelier Alpana Singh and I am your featured Taylored Wines Sommelier for the month of June.

The winery that I’ve chosen to work with is a super fantastic boutique winery from Napa Valley by the name of Azur. It comes to us from a husband and wife team, Julien and Elan Fayard.

I’m super excited about the Azur Sauvignon Blanc. Sauvignon Blanc happens to be my desert island white because it pairs with everything. It’s definitely made more in that French Loire Valley, Sancerre style as opposed to more of that grapefruit driven New Zealand Style. It’s extremely food friendly.

Citrusy, it’s grassy, notes of lime zest. Think tacos, think hummus, think ‘get the party started’ aperitif cocktail hour. It’s super easy to drink, it’s not buttery, it’s not oaky, an extremely drinkable and very likable style.
